David Raymond Dotson, 77, died Jan. 18, 1996 in Klamath Falls.
He was born in Kansas to William and Evangeline Olive (Andrews) Dotson. He grew up in that area and came to Klamath Falls in 1951 after his service in World War II in the U.S. Army.
He was a man of many trades. Ray worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad from 1951 until his health caused early retirement in 1978. Ray was a good and compassionate man who enjoyed his family and never knew a stranger. He often picked up stray animals and gave shelter and food to those who fell on hard times, such as the couple with the two sons he allowed to stay in his camper trailer in Newberg, Oregon.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie, who he married in Vancouver, Wash., in 1940; his son Donald Dotson of Seattle; daughters, Margaret Ann Rogers of Warren, Penn. and Norma M. Downey of Ventura, Calif.; mother, Eva Dotson of Bend; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three step-grandsons.
