"The extended family lived on the Amos Cline farm, along the west side of present John Cline Road, part of the original Kline tract. The old Barkman Homestead lay back a lane off the east side of the road."Creese" to who raised a few peacocks whose shrill calls of "help-help-help" echoed down across the valley. When Dave Barkman passed away Creese stayed on the farm to keep house for Stepson James Barkman. Jim's wife, Elizabeth Schwhoildknecht, had died in 1902. They were parents of 10 children, several still at home in 1902."
