    OBITUARY

At the mid-night hour which divided the 2d and 3d of March, 1863, the spirit of the late David Baltzell, Esq., took its departure from the Tenement of clay, which it had animated for 66 years - with the. hope, repeatedly expressed, that a "better resurrection" awaited him. His last protracted and painful illness was of such a character, as to preclude from the first, all prospect of recovery; and he was accordingly led, we trust, with profit, to examine afresh the evidence of his title to the rest which is provided for the people of God.

Mr. B. was a native of Maryland; but for the last twenty-four years, a citizen of this county. Urbane in manners, courteous,, hospitable, industrious, punctual to his engagements, a lover of truth, and excellent neighbor, a firm friend, a public spirited citizen, a liberal contributor to the support of the gospel - these are among his traits of character which endeared him for a large circle of acquaintances and friends. But the domestic household now deprived of its chief center of interest and attraction feel most keenly the sundering of the tie which has long bound them together. But the widow's God has never failed to redeem his promise; and the sons and daughters will ever cherish the memory of so kind. so considerate, so provident and so affectionate a father, whom they reverenced, while living, whom they mourn, now dead, G.
