DANIEL4 THAYER, (Nathaniel3, Richard2-1), born near 1684 (or 1691?), died aged 104 years says Thayer Memorial. died ____. "Daniel Thayer deceased Jan. 12, 1787 being one hundred years & 12 days old" says record at Chesterfield. He died Jan. 16, 1787 aged 100 years, 12 days at Chesterfield - Rhode Island V.R. Vol. 15, & Mass. Centinel of Feb. 3, 1787. His age as given cannot be correct, he was born near either 1684 or 1691. Married Jun. 2, 1719, Elizabeth Tompson, not of the Braintree family, probably from the Middleboro family, born ____, died ____, dau. of ____. Resided in south part of Randolph (now Holbrook) and was a partner in the disastrous land bank scheme of 1740, mortgaged his property and lost it. It was auctioned in 1752 to Daniel Thayer Jr. but litigation ensued and he had more of it taken by execution in 1764. On Mar. 17, 1758 Daniel Thayer, wife and family, from Braintree, also Elizabeth Thayer and her child were warned out of Weymouth (Court Rec. #78376). Removed to Chesterfield after 1764, probably about 1773-4. He was elected surveyor of highways 1748, fire warden 1749-51.
