Daniel (Dan) O. Spradling Sr 77 of Lodi, Ca passed away on February 8, 2012 after a long battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. He was born May 17, 1934 in Muskogee OK. He is a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1962.
Dan was a fantastic cook; his specialties were barbeque and comfort food, the whole family would come running when he was in the kitchen, especially when he was making his chocolate gravy and biscuits.
Dan loved to travel and went to many different places with his wife Mary. He enjoyed trips to Maui where he spent many hours whale watching, but the most special trip was thru Yellowstone to Mount Rushmore across the Great Plains- there was one spot on that trip where Dan felt like he was on top of the world.
Dan is survived by his most precious wife of 19 years, Mary Ellen (Mel) Spradling, his sisters Myrtle Barnes of Stockton, Ca and Wilma Johnson of Fort Smith, AR, his daughters, his sons. He was Papa to 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lily Mae Spradling, father, Nathan Absalom Spradling, daughter Karen Louise Vinson, grandsons James Vaughn Brucks and Nicholas Allan Pollock, brothers Floyd, Troy, Wilbourne and Oscar and sisters Dorothy, Goldie, Maymie and Ernestine.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Evergreen Chapel, Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 & Harney Ln., Lodi. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95204.
