DANIEL JOHN SNYDER - Progressively active in all civic organizations designed for the betterment of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and prominent in church and other organizations, Daniel J. Snyder was a man of high standing in Greensburg. The preliminary education of Daniel J. Snyder was acquired in the public schools, and later he was graduated from Heidelberg University (Ohio), in the year of 1892, with the degree of Bachelor of Arts, he received the degree of Master of Arts in 1895, he was graduated from the Yale Law School the next year with the degree of Bachelor of Laws. Admitted to the bar in 1896, Mr. Snyder began the practice of his profession in Greensburg and in 1907 became associated with J.R. Smith, under the firm name of Smith and Snyder, doing a general law business. On January 1, 1919, Mr. Snyder was appointed by Governor Brumbaugh a judge of the Court of Common Pleas for one year, after which he resumed the practice of his profession and continued in it until 1921 when he was elected president judge of the Orphans Court of Westmoreland County for a term of ten years, suceeding James S. Beacom, and in 1931 he was reelected for another term of ten years.
