The children of Dr. Daniel Marchand and his first wife (nee Scott) afore mentioned, are as follows:
1. Juliet, born September 1, 1801, married William T. Scott, of Virginia, and removed to Anderson, Indiana, issue being seven daughters and two sons. William T. Scott died March 16, 1862, and his wife, Juliet, died September 26, 1889.
2. Ann, born September 25, 1802, resided in Jacksonville, Pennsylvania, until her death April 4, 1878.
3. Benjamin Rush, born June 4, 1804, read medicine with his uncle, Dr. Louis Marchand, with whom he made his home after the death of his father in 1822. He began the practice of medicine in Madison, Westmoreland county, in 1824, the year following removing to Jacksonville, where he resided and practiced until his death January 25. 1864. He married, March 11, 1828, Ann W. Fullerton. daughter of William Fullerton, of Jacksonville, issue, Eliza Jane and John Fullerton. His wife died July 23, 1851, at forty years of age. Benjamin Rush Marchand was undoubtedly one of the most notable men Westmoreland county has ever owned, upright, sincere, a well rounded character, who has left an indellible impression on the section of the county where his life was spent.
4. Dr. Norvat D., born in 1806. He read medicine and held a diploma to practice the same. In 1830 he removed to Washington, Indiana, and there married Matilda, daughter of Aaron and Margaret (McCullough) Goodwin, having several children, all of whom died except a daughter, Martha, who married George Russel and settled in Omaha, Nebraska. Two years after the death of his first wife he married Jane, her sister, then the widow of James Whitehead, the surviving issue being: Laura. who married Sims Major, of Kansas. In 1849, with several others, Dr. Marchand started overland for California, dying on the plains at the last crossing of the Humboldt river.
5. Eliza, born March, 1810, married (first) Dr. William Morris, of Fayette county, who in 1827 located at Perryopolis, issue, one son, Springer. Dr. Morris died in 1828. She married (second) David Olden, issue, Matilda and William. Mrs. Olden died in 1834.
The children of Dr. Daniel Marchand and his second wife. Jane (Irwin) Marchand, are as follows:
1. John Irwin, mentioned at length hereinafter.
2. James I., who married (first) Hettie, daughter of James Fleming, issue, Daniel, who served an enlistment in Company I. Fourteenth Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He reinlisted in Company H. One Hundred and Thirty-sixth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. and was discharged for disability on surgeon's certificate, January 11, 1862: Hettie. Hettie. His wife, died September 14, 1840, aged twenty-two years. He married (second) Ann, daughter of Nicholas Griffith, issue, Nicholas, who upon August 23, 1862, enlisted in Company A, One Hundred and Fifty-fiith Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, died November 19, 1862, of camp fever. Lies buried in the National cemetery, Antietam, Maryland, section 26, lot D, grave 452. Benjamin Rush. Ann, his wife, died May 15, 1848, aged twenty-two years. He married (third) Martha, daughter of John Larimer, issue, John, Louis, Jane I., Anna M., and Sarah. James I. Marchand was killed by a train July 3, 1875, at the station, Greensburg, Pennsylvania. His widow died May 15, 1906.
3. Sarah Jane, born March 1, 1819, married Edward Scull and settled in Somerset, Pennsylvania; issue: Emily, who married Captain John H. Boyts, and Sarah, unmarried, residing at Somerset. Mrs. Scull died June 8, 1845.
