  7. He is age 21 and was born in the Georgia. His wife, Emily and two sons are recorded with him. He is a farmer He lives in the near vicinty of his brother Joseph; mother, Irene; and father in-law, Ivy Hill. He does not own the land he is occupying. In all there are 15 family members besides his family in the area. The population of the county was 11,581 of which 9% were slaves.
  8. He puchased 120 acres at the price of 25 cents an acre for the total price of $30 at the land office in Centre. Description of Land - Township, 18-South, Range 12-East; Section 4; Aliquot Parts - northwest Southeast quarter; and Township, 17-South, Range 12-East; Section 33; Aliquot Parts - southwest Southeast quarter and northeast Southwest quarter; Huntsville meridan.
  9. He lived with his wife, Martha E, and seven children on a farm. The value of hs real estate was $500 and personal property $200. They lived on 300 acres of land of which 28 acres are improved. Daniel has on the farm, one horse, four milk cows, two working oxen, and fourteen swine. His livestock is valued at $250. For the twelve months prior to the census he farmed 200 bushels of indian corn, 2 bales of ginned cotton (400 lbs each), 50 pounds of sweet potatoes. They also farmed wheat, irish potatoes, and peas and beans. The population of the county was 20,059 of which 10% were slaves.
  10. Daniel was captured on 28 Oct 1863 at Chattanoga, Tennessee. He served in company 'A' 38th Alabama Infantry. He took the oath of allegiance. He was taken to Louisville, Kentucky to be released on November 7th.
  11. "When she was about twelve years old ( Mary Ann Maranda Hyatt) her father went to serve in the Civil War as a Confederate soldier, was wounded and taken prisioner and held in a Northern prision for some time after the war. He did active duty as a doctor among the troops although he had no training along that line."
