The 1900 Steger Census lists him with his family. He is a day laborer. The birthdates for the family seem to have errors, and their daughter Anna, is listed improperly as a male.

In the April 1910 US Census his daughter Agnes and her children were living with his widow, Anna. It states that Anna had been married 11 years.
