Daniel Bent was baptised on 12th May 1799 at Luton in Bedfordshire, son of Susannah Bent, formerly Sheffield, and her husband James Bent. Daniel was the youngest of seven children. When Daniel was four years old his father died. Daniel's mother died in 1822, when Daniel was 22 years old.

Daniel was married on 17th January 1824 in Luton to Elizabeth Cockell. They had a daughter born in 1826 at Breachwood Green, just east of Luton in the parish of King's Walden. They then had two sons baptised on the same day in 1830 in Luton. The children's baptisms describe Daniel as a labourer.

In March 1832, when Elizabeth was pregnant with their fourth child, Daniel died. He had an apoplectic fit whilst cutting chaff. Daniel was buried at Luton on 9th March 1832. He was 32 years old. An inquest was held, which recorded that Daniel was a watchman of the parish, and described him as a steady and indsutrious man.

Elizabeth outlived him by 26 years.

    The following Inquests have been lately taken before Mr. E. Eagles, jun. Coroner for the county of Bedford:
    ...
    On the 8th instant, at Luton, on view of the body of Daniel Bent; the deceased was watchman of the parish, and a steady industrious man. He was seized with an apoplectic fit as he was cutting chaff on the premises of Mr. Sibley and expired in a few minutes.-Verdict accordingly.
