No. 391
Daniel Bentman of this Parish Bachelor and Elizabeth Cackle of the Parish of Kings Walden Herts were married in this Church by Banns with Consent of [blank] this seventeenth Day of January in the Year one thousand eight hundred and Twenty Four By me Saml.[?] Wilkerson[?] Off[iciatin]g Min[iste]r
This Marriage was solemnized between us {Daniel Bentman X / Elizabeth Cackle X} their marks
In the Presence of {Henry Hammett's X / Susannah Cackle X} their marks / Edward Cain
Although Elizabeth's name has been transcribed as 'Cackle', it is considered 'Cockle' is more likely what was intended, on the basis that the two witnesses, Henry Hammett and Susannah 'Cackle', married each other the following year at nearby Kimpton, and Susannah's name there is clearly recorded as 'Cockle'.
