Dale A. Young, 76, passed away at 6:00 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center, in Lima, Ohio.
Dale was born on July 16, 1938, in Sidney, New York, to the late Alton and Alah (Rabey) Young. On Saturday, February 08, 1964, he married Janice (Riemesch) Young, who survives him.
Dale was a 1956 graduate of Elida High School and attended Bowling Green University and Ohio Northern University. He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran. Dale had worked at Tri Star Mental Health after seventeen years and was previously employed at BLH/Clark Equipment also for seventeen years. He was a member of Faith Christian Church where he served as a Deacon, Moderator and Sunday School Superintendant. He was also a member of the Jaycees and Junior Achievement. For twenty-two years he portrayed Johnny Appleseed for the Johnny Appleseed Park District and was also in several plays at the Encore Theatre.
He is survived by: two daughters, Monica (Judd) Fancher of Yorktown, VA and Michelle Truesdale of Lima; five grandchildren, Joel Truesdale, Zachery Truesdale, Sydney Fancher, Colby Fancher, and Andrea Houston.
He is preceded in death by an infant son.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Faith Christian Church in Lima, Ohio. Rev. Wade Pond will be officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park.
