Dale and Donald

Dale was one of my favorite cousins, he was 16 years older than me...and when Dale got out of the Army he came to live with us, till he could get a job and be out on his own...I was not quite 6, and my mother had trouble getting me to eat....so Dale would tell me he bet he could out eat me, and I would make it a point to give him a run for his money...one morning I eat 6 eggs, he stopped at 5, because he was afraid I would get sick...then he got me a birthday card for my 6th birthday, it had "Roses are red, Violets are blue" then he crossed out the next line and wrote "Skunks are stinkers and so are you", I kept it, and on his birthday some 7 months later I gave it back to him, so he saves it, and gives it back to me on my 7th birthday, this went on till he married after my 10th birthday...when I was 6 we live right on US 41, the main highway from Chicago to Miami, we live about 2 miles south of town, one day my mother was driving home, she met Dale's Car coming up US 41 going from on side of the highway to the other side..as she got close enough to see what was going on she got a little upset, there in Dale's lap I set stirring the car...when we got home she jump Dale, he just laugh and said, "Hell Connie I wasn't going to let him have a wreck"....Then he got a job at the Strip Mine that my dad worked at, and when we would go out there he would tell me all about the Dinosaurs that live out there and if I drink any of the water they had for the workers, that the dinosaurs would get mad...he would keep me going, mom and dad would have to laugh and tell me that was just Dale, there were no Dinosaurs that live anywhere now...He was always full of life and I though the world of him....He married and moved back to Oklahoma and I did not get to see him a lot after that...but I always had the great memories of those days...I am sure his many friends could tell you story after story, of things that Dale did...and our lives were all made a lot happier by him...We will miss you Dale --Dlbradley1 00:18, 26 May 2009 (EDT)

Words of Friends and Neighbors

The Stringer family Dale was a loyal and treasured friend to our daddy, Zoal, for many years. He always had a smile and something funny to say every time I saw him. You are in our prayers.

Even though you will not be with us in person I know you will always be right beside me every step of the way. I miss you and love you so very much grampy!
