Benzie Banner; 1949 ---- Researched; Apr. 2001 Dec. 1,- (Pg. 12) - Hold Final Service For Mrs. Atchley -- Final services were held last Friday afternoon at the Bennett Funeral home in Frankfort for Mr. Daisy Atchley, 63, who passed away last Tuesday evening at her home near Benzonia after a lingering illness. The service was by Rev. John Gehring and interment was in the Benzonia Cemetery. Mrs. Atchley was born in South Bristol, N.Y., on Sept. 25, 1886 to Mr. & Mrs. James Porter. She Came to Michigan 30 Years Ago and on Nov. 25, 1923, She married Seymour Atchley and resided in Ionia. After living there eight years she came to Benzie County and has continued her home here since that time. She was on of eight children in the Porter family, four of whom have preceded her in death. Surviving is her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Nina Case of Canadinga, N.Y. and Mrs. Alice Nichol of Clyde, N.Y.; two brothers, Ben Porter of Canadaniga, N.Y., and Eric Porter of Benzonia; and several neices and nephews. "Card of Thanks" We wish to express our sincere appreciation to all those who were so kind and helpful in our recent bereavement of our loving wife, sister and aunt. Our thanks go especially to Rev. Gehring for his comforting service and to Frank Jewell for his touching song.
