Came to the U.S. in 1911, through Ellis Island. Sailed on the SS Ryndam, from Rotterdam to NYC, arriving May 13, 1911. Came with wife and daughter Suzanna and mother-in-law, Suzanna Dattin. Went directly to Williamson where his brother Peter Lewis resided(Richardson Rd.)

Built a house in East Williamson, NY (NE corner of Ridge Rd. & E. Williamson Rd. Died of pneumonia. The Dutch surname is Louws; Americanized at immigration to Lewis.
