In 1881 Colin Dunlop (ironmaster and J. P., b. 1845 Old Monkland), wife Mary (b. 1848 Eastwood), daughter Agnes (b. 1876 Hamilton) with visitors Katherine Stuart (lady, widow, b. 1843 Hamilton, Canada) and Alexander MacLae (unmarried procurator and J. P., b. 1839 Eastwood) were at Auchenraith House, Blantyre, Lanarkshire (census). Colin Dunlop jun. of Colin Dunlop and Co. lived in 1889 at Hutton Bank, Hamilton (Glasgow PO directory). In 1891 Colin Dunlop jr. (coalmaster, b. 1845 Old Monkland), wife Mary (b. 1853) and child Esnie (b. 1876) were at Huttonbank, Townhead St., Hamilton, Lanarkshire (census). In 1896 the firm of Colin Dunlop and Co., coalmasters, had several addresses and TA (probably telegraphic address): Quarter, Edinburgh (Slater’s Directory of Scotland). In 1901 Colin Dunlop (coalmaster, employer, b. 1845 Monkland, Lanarkshire), wife Mary (b. 1850 Eastwood) and son Colin I. Dunlop (b. 1870 Hamilton) lived at Lockerbie House, which had 20 rooms with windows, Dryfesdale (popularly Drysdale), Dumfriesshire (census). Colin is connected to Lockerbie House in “Old country houses of the old Glasgow gentry” and by H. Nankivell; the Times obituary of Colin’s half brother, James William, describes this family as old and “of Lockerbie House”. In 1906 alteration work was done on Lockerbie House for Colin Dunlop (could be father or son). From "The House of Dunlap" (1956): Colin Dunlop of Lockerbie House (1844-1914) married Mary. Colin Dunlop of Lockerbie House died 26dec1914 in London of pneumonia, funeral at Kilchrenan church, Argyll (Times); Colin Dunlop died, aged 70, 4th qtr 1914 at Marylebone (bmd index). References
