Rev Colin Maxwell Drury passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon last at the age of 91 years. He was born on 28 October 1927 whilst his parents, Clarence Charles and Ellen Irene Drury, nee Sowter were living and farming at Langley Vale. In September 1930 they moved back to Central Lansdowne onto a farm with just the Lansdowne River separating them from his parents, and two doors from the farm on which I lived until I was 10. Being 16 years older than me, Colin had moved from Central Lansdowne before I was old enough to know him.

He became an Ordained Minister of the Methodist Church in 1956 and served at Castlecrag in 1949, Punchbowl 1949-50, North Parramatta 1950-51, West Wollongong 1954-59, Coolamon 1960-63, Mudgee 1964-67, Five Dock Drummoyne 1968-72, Croydon Park 1973-79, Sylvania January 1980- February 1988 and then to Revesby. He was always involved in Leadership roles including President of the NSW Fellowship for Revival and Chairman National Fellowship for Revival.

Due to age difference and our work locations, we did not have much contact during our lives. However, I did see Colin whilst I was working in Albury in 1963 and we were blessed that he was Minister to my father during his time in Sylvania Heights Nursing Home in 1983/4 and took dad’s funeral here at Port Macquarie in July 1984.

Colin, and his wife Trixie, who passed away in April 2009 and was a truly lovely lady, were the ultimate example of a fine Christian Witnessing Couple and our world has been Blessed by their presence.

Daughter Beth has advised - there will be 2 farewells - his cremation this coming Friday at 11.30am at Mackay Family Funerals, next to Palmdale Crematorium and then a thanksgiving service at Terrigal Uniting Church on Friday, Feb 1 at 11am.

With Kind Regards,

Ivan Drury
