COLEMAN SMITH was born in 1836 in Missouri. He came to Red River County, Texas sometime prior to 1865. He joined the Confederacy on February 4, 1862 as a Pvt. in Company A, of the 32nd Texas Cavalry. On March 7, 1865, he married Julia Malone Bankston, daughter of James and Lavisa McDonald Bankston. Coleman died sometime after 1893 and Julia died in 1887.

May have resided with his wife Julia Malone Bankston Smith near English, Red River County, Texas.
