1999 - Newspaper clipping, obituary: TAVARES, Fla. - Clyde H. Ferguson, 90, formerly of Niagara Falls, N.Y., died Saturday, April 17, 1999, in the Beverly Health Center, Mount Dora, after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct 27, 1908, in Buffalo, the son of Henry C. and Louise T. (Gunzelman) Ferguson. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Zaniah as a radio technician second class. Mr Ferguson moved to Niagara Falls as a child, later to Lockport, and then to Upper Mountain Road in the Town of Cambria, where he lived for 40 years. While in Lockport, he was employed by the State of New York Dist No 5 as a canal structure operator, and worked on the Erie Canal for many years. Later, he worked as an electrician for IBEW No 237 for 25 years, retiring in 1976. After retirement, he returned to Niagara Falls, wintering in Tavares for 20 years until moving there permanently two years ago. He was a member of First Christian Church and the American Legion. Mr Ferguson was predeceased by his first wife, Bertha M. Nickerson, who died in 1976. He is survived by his wife, Elsie V. (Burgess) Ferguson of Tavares; a son, Charles H. Ferguson of Lockport; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Margaret Weidman.
