Oswego Palladium-Times, 12 Oct 1931: BOY REMAINS IN GRAVE CONDITION FOLLOWING CRASH Pulaski, Oct 12-- The condition of Clinton Bailey, 19, of Mapleview, who was severely injured shortly after 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon when the truck he was driving left the highway, was reported as critical Monday. He has not yet regained consciousness, Dr. A.G. Dunbar, attending physician says, however, that indications are slightly in favor of his recovery. The boy was injured as the truck rammed a tree two miles north of Orwell near the Chateaugay school. His uncle, Clinton Olin of R.D., Orwell, who was with him, suffered concussion of the brain and scalp wounds. His condition is considered serious. The truck was standing on its rear wheel propped against the tree at an angle when Leonard Bushaw and Eaton Greenfield, both of Orwell,...arrived. They lifted the two unconscious men out of the wrecked truck... After first aid treatment, Bailey was taken to the Hotel Hotchkiss at Maple View, where he resides with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dillenbeck, his stepfather and mother, who operate the hotel... Olin was taken to his home after being questioned by state police. Because of the head injury he was dazed and was unable to explain what caused the accident...

Oswego Palladium-Times, 26 Oct 1931: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hochkiss accompanied by Mrs. Blanche Bailey of Maple View were in Syracuse Friday to visit Mrs. Bailey's son, Clinton Bailey, who was injured two weeks ago near Orwell when his car left the road and struck a tree. He was born in Orwell, a son of William and Blanche Olin Bailey, and spent his early life in that area. He is survived by a brother, Carl, of Phoenix AZ; two uncles, Clyde and Raymond Olin of Orwell, and an aunt, Mrs. Ella Phillips of Pulaski RD 4.
