Obituary: “Clarence C. McBridge (sic), 83, formerly of Rock Island, died Thursday at the Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley. Private services will be 2:30 p.m. at the Hodgson Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. Mr. McBride was employed at International Harvester Co., Farmall Works, until retiring. He was born in Rock Island. He married Clara Theus in 1907 in Blue Island. Mr. McBride had lived most of his life in Rock Island. He is survived by his wife: a son, Earl (sic) C., Rock Island, two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and brothers Albert R. and Walter E., both of Rock Island.”


“Mrs. McBride, life resident, succumbs at 84. Mrs. Clara L. McBride, 84, a lifetime Rock Island resident, died at 2:20 yesterday afternoon at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley. Funeral services will be at 1 Saturday afternoon at the Hodgson funeral Home, Rock Island, with the Rev. R.H. Lawrenz, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. The former Clara Theus was born Feb. 1, 1888 in Rock Island, a daughter of John S. and Lena Stoit Theus. She received her education in Rock Island schools. She was married to Clarence C. McBride, Aug. 27, 1907 in Blue Island, Ill. He died May 13, 1971. Mrs. McBride was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Surviving are a son, Earle C. of Moline; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Edward Mangelsdorf, Mrs. Earl Vollmer, and Miss Mabel Theus, all of Rock Island, and a brother, Edward Theus, Rock Island. She was also preceded in death by a son in infancy, a brother and a sister.”
