    CLARA E. ALLEN, 97, a longtime Clear Lake area resident, passed away on Saturday July 3, 2004 at Burton Care Center in Burlington.
    She was born on November 19, 1906 in Hector, Minnesota, the daughter of Derk & Anna Knott Edzenga. As a young girl her family moved to Skagit County, settling in Clear Lake where Clara was raised and attended school. She was also a Sedro-Woolley High School graduate. In 1931 she was united in marriage to Lee Allen and they also made their home in Clear Lake. As her family grew older Clara worked as a clerk at the Clear Lake Grocery for many years. She later worked as a nurse at Northern State Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.
    Clara was a very active and longtime member of the Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake. She was a very talented artist, painting and sketching pictures in oils, watercolor and chalk. She also enjoyed ceramics, sewing, crocheting and knitting. She was also an avid rock hound and a member of the Skagit Rock & Gem Club.
    She is survived by her 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Darrel & Donna Allen of Tokeland, WA, Jerry & Ella Allen and Ray and Jan Allen of Sedro-Woolley. 15 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. A sister, Verna Henderson of Clear Lake. A daughter-in-law, Irene Allen of Clear Lake. 2 nieces, Lois Ann Clay of Clear Lake and Arlene Everett of Sedro-Woolley. 1 nephew, Lyle Henderson of Bremerton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee and a son, Dale.
    Memorials are suggested to the Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake. Clara’s family would like to acknowledge the staff at Burton Care Center for their loving care and attention during their mother’s stay.
    A Life Celebration will be held on Friday July 9, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake with Pastor Tim Hedberg officiating. Private family interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
