Note from Art Hubbs 3 Mar 2008: Clarissa, widow of Hial Jackson continued to reside with the Bigelow family as late as 1930 when she was 78. In 1920, daughter Elma, age 26, single, born in Illinois, stenographer in a law office, was living with them.

Janie: Note that Clara Ann Bigelow Jackson in the 1900 census said that she had one child and that child was living. This is probably an error. Clara's child, Elma was supposed to have been born in 1895; but no child was listed as living with her on the 1900 census. Clara was a widow in 1900 and on 1910 she was the mother of three children and Elma is with her then. It is possible that the 1900 info was given by the 76 year old father who also listed Clara with her mother's name of Clarissa.

In 1880, she was listed as Clara H. age 28, still living with her parents, Charles R. and Clarissa Bigelow. Her father was an MD and her brother was in medical school.

1920 Census Chicago Ward 35, Cook Co., Illinois She is listed as Clarissa Jackson, aunt, of Albert Bigelow (see 1990 Census), age 68. Elma is also in the household as a neice, age 26, single.

In the 1930 Census, Clarissa, age 78, is still with her nephew Albert Bigelow and his family. They are enumerated in York, Dupage, Illinois. Elma is not with them.
