Obituary of Cincinnati Cornelius The Blount County News - Dispatch August 27, 1896 (Page 3, Column 1) Died, on the 21st of August, 1896 at the residence of her nephew, Miss Cincinnati Cornelius, of near Remlap, Ala., aged 78 years. She was a firm believer in a glorious resurrection and an eternity of bliss. THE HAND FAN OF CINCINNATI CORNELIUS The original hand fan that belonged to Cincinnati Cornelius (1818 - 1896), eldest daughter of Beverly & Nancy Cornelius of Blount County, Alabama, has been, for years, in the possession of Bessie Ragsdale Henderson of Pinson, Jefferson Co., Alabama. Bessie is the Widow of Frank Henderson and the daughter of Lula Neomi Cornelius and John William Ragsdale. Since Bessie's illness and placement in a nursing home, Barbara Ragsdale Armstrong now has possession of this very old hand fan. The fan was mounted in a wooden box with a glass front and a hand written note by Bessie Henderson accompanies this old fan. Below is a transcription of this note card with all the original spelling and punctuation intact. This family heirloom is displayed in a small glass case which hangs on the wall at the home of Bessie Ragsdale Henderson, 7328 Highway 75, Pinson, AL 35126. I transcribed this note card on Dec. 27, 2001 during a visit with Bessie. Robert C. Johnston, Jr. Wetumpka, Alabama October 13, 2003 "December 8, 1956 This fan was my Great Great Aunt Cincinattie Cornelius. She was born in 1821.
