Facts and Events
I believe this Christoffel never existed or died young. Teunis Bergen, in his Register of the Early Settlers of Kings County, Long Island New York, confused the son of Jan (John) Probasco and Ariantje Or Adriaantje Reynierse Van Hengelen, Christoffel b. abt 1703, as the son of Christoffel Probasco and Ida Stryker. Various records prove the Christoffel that moved to New Jersey was the son of Jan (John) Probasco and Ariantje Or Adriaantje Reynierse Van Hengelen, including John Probasco's will naming his eldest son, Christoffel, and this Christoffel named his first daughter after his mother, Ariaentie, in which his parents stood witness. Baptismal Record of the First Reformed Dutch Church at Jamaica, Long Island, New York, Vol. 1 1702-1733, p. 67 Baptism: 10 Apr 1726, Sunday, Stoffel & Saara Parbasko--Ariaentie. Witnesses: Jan & Ariaentie Stoffelson References
