Helen HAMILTON married 1827, as his 2nd wife, her cousin, John George HAMILTON. John’s 1st wife was Christiana MONTEITH, daughter of Provost Henry Monteith of Carstairs ("Provosts of Glasgow from 1609 to 1832").

John Hamilton (b. 1jan1794) was known as John George Hamilton; he married (1) Christina MONTEITH and had son Lt. Col. Christian Monteith Hamilton of 92nd Reg. (R. Kelly, worldconnnect). Christiana Monteith (b 2nov1797) was daughter of Provost Henry Monteith (b 1765, d. 14dec1848, Carstairs, Lanarkshire, bur. Ramshorn cemetery) and Christiana Cameron of Carntyne (d. 22jan1818), married 12aug1823 John Hamilton ("Provosts of Glasgow from 1609 to 1832"). Henry Monteith was born apr1765 at Anderston, Glasgow, son of James Monteith and Rebecca Thomson, and died 14dec1848 at Carstairs, Lanarks, bur dec1848 at Ramshorn cemetery, Glasgow (Latter Day Saints, see article on James Monteith of Anderston in “Curiosities of Glasgow citizenship”).
