Facts and Events
Out of curiousity, I sure would like to see the marriage records known to exist for John and Margaret Snap Summit and George and Rosannah Graham Summit, since the documents might show relationships or be cosigned by recognizable people. Further, I would really like to see a copy of the original deposition that George Summitt made in Franklin county, KY in 1805 at the age of 40 describing his migration and settlement in Kentucky. This deposition was given in a land dispute relating to the area of Summit Station. I have seen a transcription of the deposition by someone but it seems to have gaps (. . .). If he came to Kentucky at age 15 with his father Christian in 1780 and they settled Summit Station in 1783, I cannot help wondering if some of the missing material at least says something about Christian and the family. I also wonder why Christian would not have executed a similar deposition in the case. |
