Christian Leiter was born 1736 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (based on the Maryland Census of 1776), second son of Jacob Leiter, who was living in Conestoga [Lancaster County, PA]. Father Jacob's will, with name spelled Lyder, was made 8 February 1764, probated 22 February. Christian Leiter received the 30 acre tract "Spruce Bottom: by his father's will, to which he made additions Christian is shown by the Maryland Debt Books as owner of tracts "Well Taught" and "Burkhead's Dispute", 1767-73. Christian Leiter is in the Census of 1790, Washington County, with three males over 16, two under 16 and four females. He lived northwest of Leitersburg on the Greencastle Road. Christian Leiter is again in the 1800 Census at Hagerstown. Christian Leiter is said to have died in 1817 in Washington county, Maryland.

Christian Leiter, by terms of his father's will, received a tract of land called Spruce Bottom, comprising thirty acres, to which he made considerable additions. His residence was northwest of Leitersburg on the Greencastele road. Christian and his wife Eve Leiter were members of the Lutheran Church. Christian became financially embarrassed and moved elsewhere about 1792. He is said to have died in Washington County in 1817.
