Christian Erb was a Private in Company E of the Eighteenth Cavalry Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers. His commanding officer was Thaddeus S. Freeland.

Christian Erb contracted Typhoid Fever while in the Union Army and was furloughed to his home where he died on 14 November, 1863.
