Facts and Events
Witnesses at his baptism were Hans Vogt of St. Romey, Heste (sp?) Schweitz der obermuller of Reigoldswil, and Magdalena Meÿer of Lauwil. Only the baptismal date of 22 March is given; birth is assumed to have been about 2 days earlier. (Jubilate Sunday, May 1st [1664], after ordinary Sunday service, were married Christoph Durrberger, a son of Rummey, royal (?) milker (?) master of the house in Mertzwiller; and Barbara daughter of Jacob Simonis, also a Swiss; I had already legitimately married them when on the 16th of June 1664 a young son was born.) or something like that. His baptismal record gives his name as "Christi", probably short for Christian. Called "Christoph" in the early Mertzwiller records (w/Mietesheim), and "Christian Dürrenberger hoffmann" or "...herrschaff. hoffmann" in the later Mertzwiller records (starting 1685). Christian served as a baptismal witness in Mertzwiller in 1690. He also served as a witness in Gundershoffen in 1683 for Michael and Ursula Mallo, as "Christian der hoffmann zu Mertzweyler" [no last name given]. He died Christian Dürrenberger herrschaff. hoffmann zu Mertzwiller, at age 79 years less 5 months. The date of burial is not given. |
