Barbara was the daughter of Jacob Simonis (probably Simon) of Switzerland. She was evidently about 7 months pregnant when she was married. Her son Johann Georg was born 7 weeks after the marriage. Note the name Simon is common in 18th century Gumbrechtshoffen church records, and also found in Mertzwiller Catholic records.

She served as a baptismal witness in Mertzwiller in 1695, 1698, and 1700, called Barbara wife of Christian Dürrenberger hoffmann in the first two, and Anna Barbara... in the last (as well as on her death record).

Her death record says she died at age 88 years, making the year of her birth 1633. However, this is unlikely due to the fact that her last child Roman was born in 1688, and she would not have been older than about age 46 at that time. Therefore I will guess that her age at death is off by 10 years, and that her true birth year was about 1643.

Signing her death record was "Hannß ?? Dirrenbergers als sohn," but the signature is close to that of Hannß Georg Dürrenberger hoffmann, so that is probably who it was.
