IN MEMORIAM Chris Christensen

Chris Christensen, veteran Hamilton county agent succumbed to an attack of Influenza with pneumonia and asthma complications, Sunday March 11. Funeral services were held at Webster City Wednesday afternoon, March 14.

Chris was one of the best known Farm Bureau leaders in the state. Although handicapped with badly failing health, he carried on, full speed ahead, with a zeal for his work which made him heedless of any suggestion to slow up and rest.

Chris spent his early years on a farm, receiveing his early education in rural schools. He graduated from Iowa State College in 1917, majoring in Animal Husbandry. As a student he served on both the Royal and International Livestock judging teams and the Intercollegiate Debating team. After serving as assistant county agent in Hardin county, Chris was appointed emergency county agent in Hamilton County in November 1917. He then served in the army, returning to his position as Hamilton County agent January 1, 1919, serving there continuously since that time. Few county agents can equal his record of continued service in one county. He is survived by his wife and small daughter who were closely associated with him in his work.

A message of sympathy and a floral tribute were sent to Mrs. Christensen by the Executive Committee of the State Federation. His loyalty to the cause of agriculture and his sterling character will long keep the name of Chris Christensen alive in the memory of his many friends in Farm Bureau circles and everywhere.
