THIS COMMUNITY MOURNS THE DEATH OF MRS. ANNA OLSON, AUTO FATALITY

The entire Rembrandt community was terribly shocked last Saturday noon to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Anna Olson, 62, prominent farm lady of this community, who was killed in a car accident Saturday morning at about 10:15 on Highway 3 just inside the Shell Rock, Iowa city limits.

With Mrs. Olson was her cousin Mrs. Catherine Leland, about 60, of Humboldt, Iowa, who was critically hurt and taken to a waverly hospital, she suffered severe head injuries and passed away Sunday morning.

According to reports by a highway patrolman, Mrs. Olson lost control of her car on a curve and the car crashed into a bridge.

Mrs. Olson had left her home south of Rembrandt Saturday morning at 6:00 o'clock, stopping at Humboldt, to pick up her cousin.

Leland; the two ladies were on their way to Chicago, to attend the Golden Wedding anniversary of an uncle and aunt.

On last Friday, Mrs. Olson, attended the Scott Center May Day party, held at the Scott Center hall, where she was on the serving committee. In the Scott Center community she was a leader and her ability in this respect was recognized when help was needed, Mrs. Olson was always willing to do her part especially when it was for the best interest of the community, church or whatever good was to be done.

In late years, Mrs. Olson made several extensive trips as one of her enjoyments out of life; in 1947 she took a trip to Sweden, where she spent three months that summer; three years ago she accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Olson on a trip to Alaska, she also made a trip to Mexico, and numerous other shorter trips, such as the one she left on last Saturday morning which proved fatal for her. Last fall Mrs. Olson went to Texas, being sent as a delegate to the National Farm Bureau Convention.

She was a kind and loving mother and homemaker, with her major concern being the interests of her family. A cheerful happy disposition made her face live with optimism and courage.

Her parents, husband, son and two brother, Chris and Charles, preceeded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Edna Larson and Pauline Dorr, both of Rembrandt, Ia.; one brother Harry Christensen of Eagle Grove, Ia.; 5 grandchildren, James, Dennis and Edwin Larson, and Kristine and Jean Dorr; and by numerous relatives and friends.

May God bless her memory.
