Charlotte Sharp was baptised on 9th August 1813 at Kensworth in Hertfordshire, England, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Sharp.

Charlotte was married on 12th November 1830 at Kensworth to a straw dealer named James Kempson, who was from the neighbouring parish of Totternhoe. For a few years after their marriage they lived in Totternhoe, where they had four children together, and where they appear in the 1841 census. By 1851 they had returned to Kensworth. They were still there in 1861, when Charlotte was working as a straw plaiter. James died in 1866 and was buried at Kensworth.

Four years later Charlotte married a straw dealer named William Watts. They settled in the nearby town of Dunstable, appearing there in both the 1871 and 1881 censuses living at 95 High Street South. William died in 1889.

Charlotte returned to Kensworth, living there with her widowed son Thomas in the 1891 census. He died in 1893.

Charlotte died in 1895, aged 81.
