Born in Guthrie, Oklahoma, moved to Tulsa in 1940 after accepting a job with the Corps of Engineers, transferred to Pryor, Oklahoma in 1946, moved to Tullahoma, Tennessee 1950 when he transferred to Arnold Engineering Development Center, with the Corps of Engineers. Was a sportsman, enjoyed golf, archery and bowling.
