    Charles was a Civil War veteran. He enlisted for three years at the age of 19 on December 5, 1863. He was honorable discharged at Washington, D.C.on August 26,1865. Civil War Regimental Archives states that Charles served with Company H 14th New York Heavy Artillary at Spottsylvania, Petersburg, Weldon Railroad, Poplar Spa Church, Cold Harbor & Hatcher's Run which are all in Virginia.

    Charles would make his hone in Wilna and later Carthage. He died at the home of his son Charles B. Walker at Natural Bridge.
