From john Waddington's "Who's Who" 1754 Ped. 1133 p. 230 Charles Waddington of Lightcliffe, nr. Halifax, abt. 1733 Rastrick, Elland, nr. Halifax, bd. 1800 Lightcliffe, md. Martha Harrison of Brighouse at Elland, nr. Halifax. Son of John Waddington 1729 of Wibsey, nr. Bradford, and of Thornhills, Brighouse, and Lightcliffe, nr. Halifax. Had 3 sons---William W., abt 1761 Lightcliffe; Charles W., abt. 1762 Lightcliffe, went to India 1790 and was lost sight of (see 1790); and John W., abt. 1767 Lightcliffe, bd. 1809 Armley, nr. Leeds, md. 1792 Halifax. Descended from Richard de Wadyngton 1388 of Coley, Halifax. Son Charles enlisted at 20 years of age as a soldier and fought at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. He afterwards lived at Kidderminster and later went to India and was lost sight of. |
