Will Abstract

Will of Charles Slaughter of the County of Campbell and state of Virginia.
Gives "loving wife Elizabeth as her dower in my lands during her life that part of the tract whereon I now live Beginning at a corner near the end of Poindexter's lane which is the corner to my land and that of said Poindexter and Robert Cobbs thence along my line and said Poindexters line towards whipping creek and across the creek and along my line and Cobbs till it strikes said creek above our mill, and up the creek to the mouth of my old house spring branch, thence up the said branch to the spring and straight on up the road in the lain thence along the lain and the road to the corner of the fence over the left hand at the end of the lain, thence along that fence out side to Robert Cobbs line, thence his line to the beginning corner."
Also "lend to my said wife Elizabeth during her life her mail negroes above fifteen years old and one between the age of eight and fifteen years also two femail negroes above the age of sixteen years and one between the age of eight and fourteen years also two other negroes such as she may chose making in all eight negroes".
"I also give to my said wife Elizabeth all my household and kitchen furniture forever, also two head of horses or mares, ten head of cattle and one yoke oxen, one at sart? twelve head sheep, one third of the hogs after killing as usual at fall, also one third of the pork killed and one third of all the crop made the year in which I may die and twenty five bushels of wheat to be saved for her in good order and time, the stock and cast? to be chose by her, and should my said wife Elizabeth hereafter wish to move to the Western Country, it is my wish and will that she carry the negroes lent to her with her if she chose to do --".
"Item it is my will and wish that all the balance of my estate be equally divided between my four children or their legal heirs in the usual way as directed by law, making those whom I have given last in my life equil to those to whom I have given most, which difference in what I have herein tofore given will appear by a refference to their accounts stated and signed by me, my meaning and wish to that all my children have and equil part and amount of my estate".
"Lastly I appoint my sons John P. Slaughter and Robert H. Slaughter my Executors to this my last will and testament."
