In 1850 CHARLES FREDERICK LAUGING was living with Franz Henry in St. Charles County, Missouri. They were probably living on the family farm.

Charles married Catherine, widow of John Ditmer. She was about 20 years older than he even though she had two small children when they married. On November 17, 1853 Catherine married Ernst Carpe/Karpe.

In 1860 Catherine was living with Carpe and her two sons. We assume the marriage of Charles and Catherine ended with his death.
