Kilgore, Charles - born 1763-64 in Orange County, Virginia; moved shortly before Revolutionary War to Washington County, Virginia, where Pensioned in 1778 (??); moved 1787 to Greene County, Tennessee, thence Pendleton County, South Carolina, thence back to Washington County, Virginia, thence to Wayne County, Kentucky, thence Lawrence County, Indiana, thence Daviess County, Tennessee where Pensioned in 1833 resided in Wallis Township; died there 11/20/1844; married Avarilla in Virginia; widow Pensioned abt. age 90 in Daviess County, Indiana 1856 & granted Bounty Land Warrant #44506 then; son Hiram abt. age 64 in 1854; a Reuben Kilgore, born 1795, mentioned (no kinship given); query letter in file states soldier son of Revolutionary Charles (Note: s/b Robert), who married Winnie Clayton; query letter in file 1930 from descendant Mrs. S.N. Taylor, states when soldier fought at Battle of Kings Mountain, he was resident of Nicklesville, Scott County (area then Russell County), Virginia. F-W7994, R1481.

Notes

He was a Private in Captain Cowan's VA Troops in the Revolutionary War. In 1831 they went to Van Buren Township, IN. Charles was buried at Kilgore Cemetery near his farm in Ragglesville, IN.
