Facts and Events
Charles went into the Continental Army, was taken prisoner, and confined with others in close cells. Inducements being held out by the English (to prisoners of pardon), after suffering extremely from hunger and exposure, he consented to act as orderly to a British general. Afterward he enlisted in the English army. (source: letter Oct 17, 1882, C.W. Johnston) References
