Facts and Events
Charles' birth could be calculated using his age on the 1850 & 1860 census record. That would give a birth year of 1775. Charles is mentioned in his grandfather Samuel's 1785 will as the son of Samuel Jr. and grandson of Samuel Sr. Since he is the only child mentioned in the will as the son of Samuel Jr., it can be assumed Charles is the oldest child and there was no other surviving son yet born. 1840 Census Trimble Co, KY Charles Jackson Male 10-15 1 George W. b abt 1827 would have been abt 13 Male 15-20 2 2 sons b between 1820 & 1825 Male 20-30 2 1810-1820 John b abt 1814 would have been abt 26; Duncan b abt 1818 would have been abt 22. Comments from Phil Jackson: "We do not have a source document as yet to prove that this specific Charles Jackson of Trimble Co., KY is one of the three named sons of Samuel Jackson. . . My only doubts have been that Samuel was Charles' father. Based on the known marriage dates Vashti is not his mother. We do know that they are related by DNA and there is the close proximity of present day Trimble County, Kentucky to Clark and Floyd counties, Indiana in relation to where Charles and Zephaniah and Samuel lived in the early 1800s. Charles' early years in the area were in Westport which is now Oldham county and even closer to Clark and Floyd." "We do not have a source record to prove the exact relationship of Willis and Reuben to Charles and Nancy Jackson. We have found no will in the LDS microfilms for Trimble Co., KY. The 1850 census does have John and George Jackson living with Charles and Nancy so we can have their relationship as biological and if the other children born inbetween 1814 and 1828 can be proven to be siblings of John or George then their relationship would be biological. Notice that the relationship for Willis and Reuben is listed as unknown at this time." --end of Phil Jackson's Note-- So the viewer needs to be aware that no documentation is found so far to prove that Charles is the father of Willis, and is the same Charles mentioned as son of Samuel. DNA results from a descendant of Willis matches that of a descendant of Zephaniah, a documented descendant of Samuel. A 1785 Will for Samuel Jackson has been found in which Samuel mentions his son Samuel and grandson Charles. A transcription of this will is in Charles' grandfather's Notes. References
