"Rev. C. C." wrote the book: Joseph Hart and His Descendants in 1901. The book can be found at the Library of Congress (catalogue number CS 71 H326 1901). The book can also be found at the Columbus, Indiana Library.

Rev. Hart's book describes his early upbringing in the Indiana wilderness. He describes the death of his brother William, when he was only 6 years old, and the death of his mother the following year when he was only 7 years old. These deaths greatly impacted him, and perhaps lead him into the ministry.

Rev. C. C. traveled 250 miles to visit his half brother, Thomas Hart, two months before he died. Thomas had requested that Rev. C. C. Hart preach a sermon.
