Charles E. Gildner, 82, formerly of Schnecksville, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Cedarbrook-Allentown where he had been residing. He was the husband of the late Mildred (Lauchnor) Gildner. Born in McKeansburg, Schuylkill County, on August 1, 1927, Charles was the son of the late Harry W. and Sadie M. (Jones) Gildner. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Charles was employed as a truck driver for the former Martys Express, and Johnson Transfer, both of Philadelphia and the former Modern Transfer of Allentown for a total of 37 years before retiring in 1983. He also was a school bus driver in the Parkland School District from 1984 - 1988. He was a member of the Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville and a member and former firefighter for the Neffs Volunteer Fire Company.
Survivors: Son, Ronald B. Gildner and his wife Kathleen of Slatington; daughter, Bridgette M. Kulp and her husband Gregory of Schnecksville; siblings, Harold R. Gildner of Hico, Texas, Albert W. Gildner of Coplay, Melvin R. Gildner, Phyllis Lauchnor and Betty Galio all of Slatington; five grandsons; nieces; nephews. Predeceased by siblings, William, Earl and Reuben Gildner, Alverta Anthony and Edna Werley.
Services: Private services will be held Friday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. Dennis W. Moore and the Rev. Jami L. Possinger officiating. No public calling hours.
Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
