Glory to God

Charlie Z Coleman died Sunday, November 9, 2014, in Baltimore, MD. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Mary Lois (Fleming) Coleman who died in 2013 and with whom he shared 69 happy years of marriage. Glory be to God and together again.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Susan Coleman of Charlottesville, VA; his daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Pete Sunday of Hampstead, MD; three grandchildren and their spouses Amanda Coleman Robertson and Ryan Robertson of Richmond, VA; Joshua Sunday of Baltimore, MD; and Jennifer Sunday Miller and Davey Miller of Waynesboro, PA; and his adored great-grandchildren Gavin and Lincoln Miller and Parker Robertson. Also cherishing his memory are siblings Richard Coleman, Homer Coleman, and Mary Chauncey, and a host of nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by infant grandson Christopher Coleman and seven siblings. The family gratefully acknowledges the support and love of his and Mary Lois’s extended family and friends.

He was born in Nora Springs, IA, October 1, 1923, to Fay and Cora Coleman. In Danville, IL, he met the girl next door and the love of his life, Mary Lois. Though World War II separated them briefly, their love story carried them throughout the last half of the 20th century and well into the 21st century in Illinois, Texas, Indiana, and Maryland. His service in WWII in the Army Air Corp and his career as an accountant and auditor are a source of great pride for his family.

He had a deep and abiding faith that guided him all his life and he was the compass for his family, guiding them through their childhood and as they themselves became parents and grandparents. Glory to God and together again.
