CHARLES BYRNES (1915-1987)

He was a veteran of the European Theater of Operations in WWII. He wrote free lance and non-fiction articles for general circulation and business magazines. He was general manager of International Association of Fairs and Expositions (1972-1976), executive director of International Association of Auditorium Managers (1962-1972); also in 1962, public relations director and trade paper advertising manager for Mercury Records. From 1949 to 1962 he was a reporter and associate editor of Billboard Magazine.

During the 1950s and early 1980s, he did publicity work fr various Homewood, IL organizations (VFW, Izaak Walton League, Little League, boys basketball league, and his church). He was a member and officer of the Homewood Park District. - 11/29/87 Flossmoor Star obituary

He was a member of Elizabeth Seton Church in Valparaiso, IN and burial is in Chapel Lawn Memorial Garden Cemetery, Schereville, IN
