The Granville District of North Carolina 1748-1763, Abstracts of miscellaneous land office records, Volume 4 by Margaret M. Hoffman, p. 271: "3009 Chamberlan Hudson plat dated 20 August 1762. 540 acres in Granville County on the north side of Reedy Creek , joining the Mouth and side of Meadow Spring branch, Beardins line, Mays and Moseleys line, Persons line, and Joseph John Alston SCC: John Hudson, William May Thomas Person, Survr." Bute County NC was formed from Granville County, and was only in existence from 1764-1779. Chamberlain Hudson is mentioned in land records there in 1765, 1769, 1771; and 1772 and 1775 on Reedy Creek. Chamberlain Hudson - Made an "Oath Of Allegiance" in Bute County, NC in Capt. William Borrough's District between 1774 - 1804. The men had to sign the oath to vote in the election. Other Hudson's listed were: HENRY HUDSON, RICHARD HUDSON, and a HUDSON BLANCHET (possible relative?).
