Grandma had ovarian cancer that was hard to detect until it became 3rd stage cancer. She fully recovered from this and did not die from the cancer.

When I was about 12 my grandparents (Al and Cemoria) served a full-time mission at the request of Grandpa. As soon as the announcement was made that senior couples were needed out in the mission field, he marched right into his bishop's office and said that he and Grandma needed to start the paperwork. They served 18 months and were in locations like Independence, MO among others. They were instumental in my decision to serve a mission.
