Cecil W. Kimmell, 75, a resident of Leesburg, Fla., and former resident of Columbia City, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004 at Waterman Hospital in Leesburg. Born on April 5, 1929 in LaGrange County, a son of Paul and Pauline (Grundan) Kimmell, his formative years were spent in Brimfield. He was a retired U.S. Army sergeant. Following his military retirement, he worked with the Heavy Equipment Operators 103. His former memberships included Benevolent & Protective Order Elks 1417, American Legion Post 98 and V.F.W. Surviving relatives include two sons, Ranier (Tina) Kimmell of Fort Wayne, and Andrew (Iva) Kimmell of Waldorf, Md.; four grandchildren; eight sisters, Jeannie Kimmell, Sandra Groves, Lavorna Fulk, Betty Smith, Bea Bahls, Phyllis Cole, Sharon Karlstadt and Ola Crain; and a brother, Frank Kimmell. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Kimmell. A memorial service is at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m Saturday at the funeral home.
