Birth date is calculated from age at death (69 years, 6 months and 9 days). However, see the notes on the 1850 census. It is possible that the gravestone has been refreshed and the age incorrectly copied from the original.

Catharn Moses, age 59 (living with Abram and Ann Moses)

This is presumably Samuel's wife, living with her son and daughter-in-law. The census was taken in Nov (after she died) but was supposed to reflect information as of June 1 (before she died). Her age in the census is 59 (and could not be read as 69 as shows on her gravestone).

This could, of course, be a different person entirely, such as an aunt.

  7. Census records from 1810 to 1840 do not provide a consistent picture of the birth year of Samuel's wife, suggesting that he might have had more than one. One wife born about 1790 would fit the profile from 1810 to 1840, but be too young to have had a child in 1802. To fit the census records, Samuel could have had a first wife born about 1785 and a second wife born about 1790/1791. Alternatively, he could have had one wife born in 1781 whose age was not correctly reported in the census records.
